SURGICAL TREATMENT

Colectomy – Surgery during which all or part of the colon (also called the large intestine) is removed.

Ileo/Colostomy – An alternative exit from the colon created to divert waste through an opening in the colon and through the wall of the abdomen.

Polypectomy – Removal of a polyp (A mass of tissue that develops on the inside wall of the colon or rectum).

Strictureplasty – Surgical procedure performed in response to scar tissue that has built up in the intestinal wall.

Hemorrhoidectomy – Surgical removal of hemorrhoids (enlarged and dilated veins in and around the rectum and anus).

Colon Resections – Surgery to treat both benign and malignant diseases of the colon and rectum. This includes, but is not limited to diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rectal prolapse, and colorectal cancer.
